Doug Sewell and his brother Neil share almost identical hockey histories. Both played for the Devon Dairy Kings for a couple of seasons before playing with the Fredericton Caps. Doug and Neil were both offered chances to play with the AHL's Hersey Bears, but they enjoyed playing on their home ice just too much, and refused the offer.

Most Valuable Player - Charlie MacTavish Award Winner 2009 - 2010 Jim Keilty

The late Charlie MacTavish grew up in the Devon area and left a legacy behind on the ice and on the diamond. Charlie was an outstanding goaltender that backstopped several intermediate and senior teams to Provincial titles, throughout the Province and across Eastern Canada.
On the baseball diamond, Charlie was known as one of the top hitters of his time. A colorful figure that will long be talked about in the Fredericton area, and one not soon to be forgotten, as he left his mark on this community in the form of daughter Kathy, and sons Donnie, Timmy, Andy and little Scotty. He also has several grandchildren that will carry on his legacy for many years to come.
A very fitting individual to name the MVP award after, Charlie displayed everything a Most Valuable stand for. |
